SidStation ASID
SidStation ASID is a cross platform plugin (VST3, AU and Standalone) that plays the three SID chip voices of the Elektron SidStation directly over the ASID protocol. It streams the raw MOS6581 SID chip registers, so it gives independent control of each voice with its own pitch and gate, plus the things MIDI CC cannot reach. One instance drives one voice, so in a DAW you put an instance on each of three tracks and pick a voice per track. This turns the three voices into independent, sequenceable instruments, which the SidStation makes awkward on its own.
Per voice are the four SID waveforms (combinable, with noise exclusive as on the real chip), an ADSR envelope, pulse width, coarse and fine tuning, pitch bend, hard sync, ring modulation, the raw TEST bit, portamento, an eight step wavetable, and three LFOs on pitch, pulse width and cutoff.
Shared across the three voices are the filter (cutoff, resonance, per voice routing, external input, and combinable low, band and high pass modes), master volume, and a switch to silence voice 3 so it can serve as a modulation source for ring and sync.
Visually it's a Commodore 64 styled pixel interface with per voice colour coding, voice sound presets saved to disk, a tempo readout and a MIDI load meter.
It runs on macOS, is free and open source (GNU GPL v3), and is an independent, unofficial project not affiliated with or endorsed by Elektron.
